Workshop with Darlene Williams-Hubble

Saturday, August 12, 2017

10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Choose to make Shortline, Chain of Events or Prickly Pear

Class price $40.00

We have combined all three of Darlene's workshops into one workshop that will be held on Saturday August 12th.  Darlene is used to teaching multiple quilts in classes so pick your favorite and sign up today.

Shortline (pictured on the left) This lovely quilt is made with just two simple blocks created from background fabric and 2 1/2” strips. The blocks are set on point to make this quilt even more eye catching! Choose your favorite colors in 2 1/2" pre-cut strips and a background to create the perfect blocks for your quilt.  Class is suitable for beginners and beyond.

Chain of Events (center) Learn two new interesting techniques to make two of your blocks! Combine traditional 55-40 or Fight and Goose Chase blocks to create this beautiful wall or lap quilt.  The quilt looks like there is curved piecing but it is easily made using straight seams. The key for creating this amazing quilt is by choosing strong contrasting fabric. Class is suitable for confident beginners and beyond.

Prickly Pear (pictured on the right) Strips turn into something magical in this quilt designed by Georgette Dell'Orco. With a strong background and a subtle accent, a simple block set on point becomes wonderfully striking. Use 2 1/2" strips in your favorite colors and you will be set.  Class is suitable for confident beginners and beyond.

Friday, August 18, 2017

10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Like contrasting colors? Then this pattern could be for you. Maggie chose to control the color in her quilt but it would look great with a scrappy look. This quilt is also perfect for precuts!  Precut 2 1/2" strips make this quilt go together quickly and easily.  You will be making 19 ½” blocks so this will go together quickly. The finished quilt measures 85” x 85”.

This project should help eliminate your fear of curves and reduce your stash at the same time.  Relax and enjoy the process. Free hand cutting of curves can be liberating and inspiring.  You will just layer and slice, no ruler, no emphasis on the exact! Relax and enjoy the process. This quilt can be made using 10'' squares or yardage. The Tidal Pool pattern has instructions for crib to king size quilts.
