There is a $25 non-refundable fee for any workshop cancellations. For cancellations, there will be no refunds given after January 1st, 2012.

Here is how Judy defines her project levels -
Beginner: A beginner is someone who has no experience of foundation paper piecing. A beginner student will need some sewing experience. They must know how to use their machine and a rotary cutter, and they need basic knowledge on how to assemble a quilt.
Intermediate: An individual who has basic knowledge on the construction of quilt blocks, quilt layouts, sewing techniques, curved piecing, and a little paper piecing experience is considered an intermediate.
Advanced: Someone who is knowledgeable about foundation paper piecing, curved piecing, applique, and knows how to construct and design their own quilt layouts is considered advanced. Any person who has completed one of Judy's quilts or taken a class from her would be considered advanced.

Judy teaches and uses in all her patterns. A one-day workshop will include 2 to 3 hours

A three-day workshop gives the students a variety of quilt patterns from which to choose.
Each student will have time in class to finish multiple foundation units designed
and printed for their pattern selection. They will also have the opportunity to watch
demonstrations offered for each of the patterns selected for each group.
Several techniques that are taught in Judy’s multi-day classes include: Strip piecing with
foundation paper, speed-cutting techniques designed for template layout sheets,
speed-cutting techniques used when cutting fabrics with templates, simple curved piecing
techniques for beginners and advance students. Judy also lectures on how and why to
design templates for foundation paper piecing.

A two-day workshop gives the students a variety of quilt patterns from which to choose.
Each student will have time in class to finish 1 or 2 of each foundation unit designed
and printed for their pattern selection. They will also have the opportunity to watch
demonstrations offered for each of the patterns selected for each group.
Several techniques that are taught in Judy’s two-day classes include: Strip piecing with
foundation paper, speed-cutting techniques designed for template layout sheets,
speed-cutting techniques used when cutting fabrics with templates, simple curved piecing
techniques for beginners and advance students. Judy also lectures on how and why to
design templates for foundation paper piecing. The two-day workshops include a
45 minute demonstration on easy machine appliqué techniques.
Students can choose from any of these beautiful quilts:

Friday, February 24, 2012, 9:30 a.m. – Spectacular Color for Your Quilts Seminar
Cost $25.00 plus one light and one dark quilt shop quality batik fat quarter
This seminar walks students through color selection for their quilts. Many of Judy's quilts are provided for the purpose of example. The presentation discusses how to select fabrics for re-creating quilts you've seen when fabrics are no longer available, how to select fabrics to accomplish the re-creation of something that inspires you, creating a beautiful quilt around colors selected by someone else, and "cleaning" out your fabric stash. Judy will demonstrate the process of selecting fabrics for several of her quilt patterns, feature the utilization of Hoffman Bali Pops (and other pre-cut strips), plus use fat quarters supplied by the students in different fabric arrangements to create appealing layouts for the Desert Sky pattern. She will select fabrics for up to 4 Desert Sky Kits (depending on the number of students), which will be given away at the end of the seminar! The give away will include the pattern and all of the fabrics to make the quilt. She will also give away a copy of her Stepping Stones Pattern including 1 package of Bali Pops by Hoffman Fabrics.
The color seminars will be held in the Quilting by the Bay Education Annex located just behind Quilting by the Bay.
