Blushing Peonies by Robin {ickens for Moda Fabrics

Blushing Peonies by Robin Pickens for Moda Fabrics

Peony buds, round and full, burst open to magnificent blooms, full of romance and beauty! Blushing, but certainly not bashful, these peonies bring spring color and splendor into your home. The pinks, corals, and greens of the garden mix with the calm soft grays of early morning dawn or evening dusk. Just as bold and glorious as nature intended, these peonies are large and lovely and add a dramatic presence in large blocks and in your sewing projects.

Pay It Forward Charity Sew

Come spend a few hours with us on either Friday December 8th or Saturday December 9th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Quilting by the Bay as we Pay It Forward and work on charity projects. We will be working on pet beds for the Animal Control Center and quilts for our new Trunk Quilt Program. A Trunk Quilt is a child size quilt that is made to go into the trunks of law enforcement vehicles. According to Haley who recently started this program in Panama City, the quilts are given by the officers to children they meet in the line of duty. When a child is involved in a call, the Trunk Quilt is meant to give them something to hold onto - something to find comfort in - and something they can keep that will, hopefully, bring a happy memory to what is otherwise a scary and unfamiliar situation. Haley has already coordinated with the Bay County Sheriff and Panama City Police Department and they are excited about these quilts.  Our Education Center will be open from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. We ask that you bring your sewing machine and basic quilting supplies like rulers, cutting mat, neutral thread and a rotary cutter.

Corner Beam / Spotlight by Deb Tucker Studio 180 DesignsTucker University- 501 Corner Beam / Spotlight

Tuesday January 9, 2017

10:30 am – 1:30 pm

Instructor - Kathy Anderson
Class price $20.00

The Studio 180 Corner Beam can add unique options to your quilt designs. The combinations and the twists and turns you can create with the Corner Beam tool makes it look as if you had to work with lots of odd shaped pieces when in fact you did not. This tool creates a fundamental unit that is sure to add sparkle to your quilt block designs. Although the ruler shape is similar to the V Block, the final unit has two seamlines radiating from a single corner, so the center triangle in the finished unit resembles a beam of light shining out of that corner. Accurate construction has always been challenging until now. With the Corner Beam tool, all the shapes are cut slightly over sized and once sewn, trimmed to extremely precise units with seams perfectly placed for a crisp sharp point every time. Expand the use of your Corner Beam tool by learning how to make "Sliver Units" which makes precise piecing look complicated when it is actually easy. Class is suitable for beginners and beyond.
