Tucker University featuring Deb Tucker's Rulers from Studio 180 Designs

Quilters of any level can benefit from taking a class from Tucker University. Regardless of where you as a quilter are in your journey you will experience a better quality of piecing when you utilize Studio 180 Design tools and techniques. Tucker University courses offer you the opportunity to learn new techniques without the obligation of having to complete a full quilt top. Studio 180 tools designed by Deb Tucker are designed to allow you to trim down 6 or more different sizes of any one unit depending on the tool. The cost of each class includes the required Design Sheet a $6.50 value. You will bring your sewing machine to each class, construct your blocks and play with design options. Our first series of classes will be held on the second Tuesday of the month starting September 12th. Classes are priced individually but there is a building block approach where you will build on techniques learned in earlier classes.  Our first three classes are Tucker Trimmer Tool, V Block, and Wing Clipper.

Tuesday September 12, 2017

10:30 am – 2:30 pm

Instructor - Kathy Anderson
Class price $20.00

Learn how to use a Tucker Trimmer I to create half square triangles, quarter square triangles, and combination units. With the Tucker Trimmer I, a quilter has 33 opportunities to create precise units. In Tucker University these units are referred to as basic units, therefore they must be precise to fit nicely with more advanced units. This is a perfect place for any quilter to begin their journey through the Studio 180 Design set of tools.  You will also learn how to expand the use of your Tucker Trimmer I tool by creating a Shaded Four Patch unit. By using Deb Tucker's method of strip piecing the construction of a shaded four patch, you eliminate the need to stitch fabrics on an unsecured bias. This method also eliminates the stretching and puckering within the unit. Once your units are made you'll discover a wide array of layouts that can be created with just one block.

Workshops January 19-21, 2018

Karen

In 1996 Karen started making art quilts, which were very well received in national and international shows. The awards encouraged her to move forward; her hobby officially became her business in 2002 when she opened her business “The Quilted Lizard.” For 8 years she taught at a local quilt store and in 2002 she began teaching her technique “Layered Curves” and “Accidental Landscapes™” nationwide. Karen says "teaching workshops gives me the opportunity to share my passion for playing with fabric with others, and I love it!!"  Karen is the author of several books including Wearable Waves, Happy Villages, Layered Waves, and Accidental Landscapes.
