For Advanced Beginners and beyond

Robin Ruth Rulers is an idea that has been 20 years in the making from when Robin Long first started searching for a way to make mariner's compass blocks without paper piecing or using tedious templates. This past year Robin has been entirely focused on creating and refining a new line of original Robin Ruth Design rulers and developing the strip piecing method used to make traditional and not-so-traditional mariner's compass blocks. Robin currently has two instruction books and rulers - Skinny Robin and Fat Robin - each used to create slightly different mariner's compass blocks in 16 sizes (from 6"-36") using the exact same process. The only difference is that Skinny Robin is based on a 45 degree angle and Fat Robin is based on a 60 degree angle. This revolutionary strip piecing method enables you to make the once tedious and unapproachable mariner’s compass block quickly and accurately. Now you will be able to easily incorporate these blocks into your own creative quilt project without paper piecing or using tedious templates!

In class students get to choose which kind of compass they will make - Skinny Robin (pictured left) or Fat Robin (pictured right).  In class you will work on a single block that can be made into a pillow or it can be the first of many to make a quilt top, the choice is yours.  Robin is teaching the same class both days.  You can also sign up for both days and try making both Skinny Robin and Fat Robin blocks! If you want to learn about Robin's techniques, you can watch her videos by clicking here

Farmer's Wife 1930s Block of the Month

Farmer's Wife 1930s Block of the Month

Only 2 spots left!

In the 1930s, The Farmer's Wife magazine offered inspiration and positivity in the "Letters From Our Farm Women" column. Each month, the magazine published letters from readers that offered support and encouragement to each other in an economically challenging time for our country. This quilt features 99 blocks that were inspired by the letters from these women of the Great Depression. The book Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt is required to make the quilt but is not included in the program price. The fabrics used in this block of the month program are all 1930's reproduction prints and solids in colors similar to those used in the original quilt. The finished quilt size is 86" x 103". With our program you choose your border color; select from blue, green or pink.
