Store Tour

Our original building started its life as a home in the early 1960’s and has undergone several renovations and additions in its 50 year history. Our addition in 2006 provided a much needed storage room and added the signature blue metal roof. The shop was approximately 3200 square feet and we stocked around 4000 bolts of fabric at any one time.  In recent years we had added 2 more buildings nextdoor.  In October of 2018, the panhandle suffered catastrophic damage from Hurricane Michael.  Although our original building was destroyed, we were fortunate to have one building that sustained minimal damage in comparison and that is where Quilting by the Bay lives today!

The floor plan is fairly open but cozy; we strive to keep the walkways uncluttered and open enough for wheelchair bound customers to get around easily. We have several movable displays that allow us to change the look and flow of the store periodically.

When you enter the store from the front door the first area you will see is our center island displaying the newest fabric collections.  A “colorwall” which includes basics and blenders winds its way through the store in addition to many other displays of fabric from our latest arrivals, novelty prints, coastal and nautical themed prints, holiday fabrics, batiks and gorgeous contemporary brights too. Located around the shop are notions, rulers, patterns and many other specialty items and displays.  There is an eclectic collection of vintage sewing machines dotting the top of many of the fabric shelves and several pieces of antique furniture add a bit of charm too.
